We spoke to Southampton and England left-back Ryan Bertrand last month, at the launch of EA SPORTS FIFA 17!

What do you think of FIFA 17? You lost your first game 3-1 against Nathaniel Clyne…

“It’s really good! But there’s a way to win, and Clyney didn’t win in the right way. He just scores rubbish, sweaty goals!”

Who are the best and worst FIFA players at Southampton?

“Me, Van Dijk and Ward-Prowse are the best. The worst is definitely Fonte!”

Your rating has gone from 78 to 79, are you happy with that?

“I should be 80 plus definitely! I’ve think I’ve improved a bit, so I want to be rare gold!”

Who’s your favourite team on FIFA?

“Real Madrid – Ronaldo loves scoring from distance! My basic tactic is to give it to him and then cut in and shoot from anywhere!”

Do you remember the first FIFA game you played on?

“Yeah, it was ages ago though. It was the early noughties when the graphics got really good and FIFA became amazing!”

Do you remember the first game you were on as a player?

“It would have been 2008, when I was at Chelsea but out on loan. You had to scroll right down to find me in the youth team! It made me think, ‘Will they give me a chance this year?’ I don’t remember what my rating was – I was just happy to be on there!”
