The Chop & Double Chop

THE CHOP & DOUBLE CHOP

Real Madrid and Wales megastar Gareth Bale uses the Chop or Double Chop 1 v 1 move to create space and change direction from opponents closing him down diagonally from the front or behind. It looks totally sick, too!

USE IN ATTACKING POSITIONS!

These awesome 1 v 1 moves are especially deadly in the final third of the pitch when you’re travelling towards goal. Bale will bust them out when he’s looking to create a bit of space to run, shoot or passion his way to the penalty box! Practise below!

BALL MASTERY – PULL PUSH, PULL BEHIND

  1. Pull the ball back diagonally towards you with the sole of your foot.

  2. Now push the ball diagonally out again with the outside of the same foot – you will have created a V shape with the ball.

  3. Now pull the ball back behind your standing leg using the sole of your foot and instep. Continuously repeat these actions, then try doing it with your other foot.

MIRROR MOVE 1 – THE CHOP

  1. As you move forward, use the toe part of your sole to pull the ball behind you.

  2. As the ball travels in the opposite direction, use your other foot to accelerate away!

MIRROR MOVE 2 – THE DOUBLE CHOP

  1. As you move forward, use the toe part of your sole to pull the ball behind you.

  2. Take one touch forward, then step on the ball with your other foot and pull the ball behind you again.

  3. Now, after completing both Chops, use the foot you did the first Chop with to burn away from the defender!
