MATCH rates how three of the Premier League-linked Italy superstars performed in their last 16 tie with Austria!

LEONARDO SPINAZZOLA * ROMA

Linked with: Chelsea & Tottenham
v Austria rating: 9/10

The right-footed left-back had another top-quality game! He drove down the flank whenever he could, had two shots and set up a chance in the first half. Italy’s tactical freedom and flexibility allowed him to get into advanced positions far up the pitch, and that was where he did all his damage with a beautiful assist for the opener. We’d still like to see how he’d do defensively against stronger opposition!

NICOLO BARELLA * INTER

Linked with: Chelsea, Liverpool & Tottenham
v Austria rating: 5/10

The 24-year-old midfielder played just in front of Jorginho and Marco Verratti! He had a stinging first-time volley well kept out by Austria keeper Daniel Bachmann in the first half, but he was really quiet in general, got booked and was subbed off after 66 minutes. MATCH reckons he’s looked way more effective on the right of a midfield trio than as a CAM in this tournament!

DOMENICO BERARDI * SASSUOLO

Linked with: Leicester, Liverpool, Man. United & Tottenham
v Austria rating: 5/10

Berardi had a real battle getting past Austria ace David Alaba! Even though he looked lively when he got on the ball, the right winger was a bit predictable. He spent most of the game trying to cut in on his stronger left foot, which was really easy for Alaba to read and stop. He was rightly subbed off for goalscorer Federico Chiesa late in the second half!
