MATCH picks out five talking points from Spain and Italy’s semi-final at Wembleey!

Italy have got tons of attacking talent, but one of their main threats going forward up to their quarter-final with Belgium was left-back Leonardo Spinazzola! His serious Achilles injury meant that Emerson replaced him against Spain and the Chelsea full-back didn’t offer anywhere near the same threat as the Roma hero. They’ve been seriously weakened by his loss!

Juventus’ 23-year-old winger Federico Chiesa has looked really lively in the latter stages of Euro 2020! He scored a crucial goal in his nation’s last 16 victory over Austria and curled another cracker past Spain to give his side the opener! He clearly loves playing at Wembley and should keep his place in the XI over Domenico Berardi!

We’ve been throwing A LOT of credit towards the Italy midfield throughout Euro 2020, but they were bossed by an 18-year-old tonight at Wembley! Barcelona boy wonder Pedri has had an incredible debut major tournament and he once again showed his talent against Italy. He always makes the right decision and never complicates things, just like another Spain legend – Andres Iniesta!

If only they could finish! Spain played some beautiful footy during the game and made Roberto Mancini’s side look average at times, but they just couldn’t put the ball in the net. Luis Enrique chose to play with a false nine against Italy and, even though they created enough chances, they just weren’t clinical enough! Nobody likes going out on penalties though…

At least that’s what the Italy fans think! They were obviously over the moon when Jorginho coolly slotted away his penalty and have been one of the favourites to win the tourno ever since they put three past Turkey in the tourno’s opener. Defensively they’re solid and Gialnuigi Donnarumma is an absolute beast between the sticks!
