ENGLAND goalkeeper JORDAN PICKFORD chats ahead of The Three Lions’ quarter-final clash with Ukraine!
THE GERMANY GAME!
PICKFORD SAYS: “It was a massive win and a massive moment for me in my career. It’s got to be a great memory for us, especially at Wembley with all of the fans and the atmosphere. You’ve just to take that in. You’ve got to enjoy the moment, but it’s a quick turnaround. I think when I look back at the end of my career it will be a good memory for me!”
KEEPING CLEAN SHEETS!
PICKFORD SAYS: “For me it’s very good and really nice, but it’s not just me – it’s the full XI! Everyone’s working hard to keep those clean sheets because in tournament football clean sheets are key. When everybody’s working together, there’s no better feeling than keeping a clean sheet!”
PICKFORD SAYS: “It’s good! The U21s he was my manager before he got the job with the seniors. I always remember the Under 17 Euros in Serbia, I think he was part of the FA then and I remember him coming to the semi-final. I think he’s seen a lot of us through the age groups. That’s a great thing for England!”
PICKFORD SAYS: “I’ve known Raheem for a long time. The U16’s Victory Shield, we were together in that squad! His career has been outstanding. He’s just the same lad he was when he was 16. He’s great to have around the place, he’s vocal. Four goals now, he’s been brilliant!”
PICKFORD SAYS: “Playing against him for West Ham, we know his qualities! I remember a few years ago when I was younger, watching major tournament football and he was playing for Ukraine and you could see his qualities there. He’s definitely a top player and we’ve got to be aware of him. He has got a decent left foot as well!”
PICKFORD SAYS: “We’ve got to create our own atmosphere come Saturday in Rome, which we’re capable of doing! But the fans were tremendous the other night and throughout the group stages as well. I think that gives us that added motivation for the game Saturday to come back to a semi-final with 60,000 fans!”
