MATCH looks back at some of the FANTASY PREMIER LEAGUE heroes of the season – plus the players we didn’t expect to flop!

FPL STARS!

BANGING BRUNO!

Bruno Fernandes ended the season as the most-picked player on FPL and his enormous points total backed that up! He spent most of the season battling with Heung-Min Son and Mohamed Salah to be the most effective midfielder – and with Harry Kane to the best overall player!

BRILLIANT BAMFORD!

Think back to the start of the season and Patrick Bamford wasn’t even guaranteed to make the Leeds XI after The Whites splashed record bucks on Rodrigo! The England striker proved to be an FPL bargain, alongside loads of other Leeds stars like Stuart Dallas, Jack Harrison and Illan Meslier!

MAGIC MARTINEZ!

Emiliano Martinez saved a penalty on his Aston Villa debut to help his new side beat Sheffield United 1-0, which was a sign of things to come on FPL! He provided points after points, and was soon snapped up by over half of the FPL community to make himself one of the game’s all-time most popular GKs!

SUPER SONNY!

Anyone who picked Heung-Min Son at the start of 2020-21 deserves a round of applause! The Spurs star picked up a mind-boggling 69 points from the first six Gameweeks, including a jaw-dropping 24-point haul from his four goals against Southampton. He’s been Spurs’ best asset behind Harry Kane!

JAW-DROPPING JESSE!

No player averaged more points-per-match on FPL in 2020-21 than Jesse Lingard! The West Ham loanee arrived on loan in January and delivered 15 points on his Hammers debut. It didn’t take long for him to become one of the most-owned players on the game!

FPL FLOPS!

JOHN LUNDSTRAM

After picking up a massive 144 points on FPL in 2019-20, Lundstram struggled to 50 this season!

MATT DOHERTY

Doherty hit 140+ points in 2018-19 and 2019-20, but couldn’t break into Spurs’ XI this season!

CAGLAR SOYUNCU

He was one of the kings of 2019-20, but injuries and rotation saw Soyuncu only just reach 50+ points!

ADAM LALLANA

We thought Lallana would be a hit at Brighton, but he didn’t hit double digits once all season despite costing £6.2 million!

NICOLAS PEPE

Arsenal’s record signing picked up less points-per-match than Saka, Smith Rowe, Rob Holding and Kieran Tierney!
