MOHAMED SALAH (£13.1m) – LIVERPOOL
Fixture: Southampton (H)
ABDUL SAYS: “After only 12 games, the Egyptian sits on a mammoth 11 goals and eight assists! He is the highest scoring player in the game with 125 points and 46 points ahead of second-placed Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joao Cancelo. He has simply been outstanding and remains as a perma-captain for me!
He has had 39 shots in the box (1st), 26 shots on target (1st), 13 big chances (1st) and an xG of 9.00 (1st). He has also created eight big chances (1st) with an xA of 5.77 (1st). Being top for both xG and xA after 12 games is some feat and his stats show that this is more than sustainable.
Liverpool host Southampton in Gameweek 13, which should be another routine win for The Reds. They have scored 35 goals (1st) with 87 shots on target (1st), 159 shots in the box (1st) and an xG of 31.3 (1st). And although Saints have been good defensively this season, they will be no match for Liverpool in my opinion.
With the form they are in, The Reds really are capable of scoring 3+ goals against most teams. Salah is again the best option for this Gameweek. There is no point in looking elsewhere for the captaincy just now!”
JAMIE VARDY (£10.8m) – LEICESTER
Fixture: Watford (H)
ABDUL SAYS: “Jamie Vardy has been a frustrating player for his owners. After scoring seven goals and one assist in his first eight games, he has since blanked four games in a row!
He has had 24 shots in the box (5th), 12 shots on target (5th) and an xG of 4.60 (7th). He has also created 11 chances with an xA of 1.25. Looking at his stats this season, and historically, he will no doubt come good – especially with the kind run of fixtures.
The Hornets have conceded 20 goals (18th), 103 shots in the box (13th), 55 shots on target (16th) and an xGC of 20.2 (17th). They have been one of the worst defensive sides in the league. On the other hand, The Foxes have been fine scoring-wise with 16 goals (7th) with an xG of 15.9 (9th).
Despite his recent blanks, Vardy is still Leicester’s talisman and top goal scorer and he has a goal involvement of 50% in the games he has played. He is also on penalties so you can never right him off!”
