The 2020-21 ePremier League champion chats to MATCH about his career and MAN. CITY!

SHELLZZ SAYS: “I was 17-years-old in my second year of sixth form, and luckily that was the year FUT Champions was added to Ultimate Team. I played it every weekend and my results were improving each time. One day I was in school and received an email from EA saying ‘Congratulations on finishing Top 12 in Europe, you have qualified for the FUT Regional Paris’. I couldn’t believe it. I’ve been on this rollercoaster ever since!”

FIFA 21!

SHELLZZ SAYS: “It’s a weird one to be honest, it’s very similar and different at the same time. You can chain skill moves which is huge and adds a lot of flair to your game. Skill-cancelling was also added this year which is like nothing we’ve ever seen before in FIFA. Although I think in terms of how the game is actually played, it’s very similar to FIFA 20!”

SHELLZZ SAYS: “I’m not going to lie, this year has been tough for me in terms of finding a formation that works for me. However, 4-3-1-2 has definitely been the most successful for me. It’s a quick playstyle, which is what I like!”

SHELLZZ SAYS: “My one tip to casual players is to learn how to master attacking. This year is all about scoring goals and there are so many ways to do that. At the start of the year, stepovers were the most important thing in the game. Now you have to know how to use the new bridge skill move, learn how to trigger runs for through balls and maybe use the player lock in certain situations!”

SHELLZZ SAYS: “It was a great feeling (qualifying for a fourth time) and an achievement I am proud of, especially doing it with my friend Ryan, it means a lot to us. More importantly I was happy to bring Man. City there once again. It’s just a shame I wasn’t able to take us to the next step to try compete for the trophy, as I believe we could have gone all the way. But I’m sure we’ll be back next year to change that!”

SHELLZZ SAYS: “This year the best player I’ve played is definitely Hashtag Tom. I mean he’s No.1 in the world for a reason. He’s just a complete player this year, good at defending, keeps the ball well and also deadly in the box. I think his press is insane, he’s able to squeeze you anywhere on the pitch and not be leaving any gaps at the same time!”

SHELLZZ SAYS: “The first time I met Ryan was the Grand Finals in FIFA 17 which we both qualified for and since then we have been good friends. Obviously, a lot has happened since then, we’ve both been at different teams, but we have always been supporting each other’s careers. We were close before but Ryan joining City definitely brought us closer and he is someone who will be my friend for life!”

SHELLZZ SAYS: “I’ve met most of the players from when we have been down to the facilities pre-COVID, spoken to a few of them and have even played against (Phil) Foden, (Sergio) Aguero and (Oleksandr) Zinchenko on FIFA. We have also received a few good luck videos that a couple of players have made before tournaments!”

Ryan Pessoa and Shellzz were speaking after representing Man. City at the FIFAe Club World Cup. You can watch them both in action by following The Citizens on Twitch @ManCity and Twitter @mancityesports
