Spencer FC had three players from his eSports side Hashtag United at the 2018 eWorld Cup – and chatted to MATCH about all things FIFA, too!
GETTING INTO ESPORTS!
SPENCER SAYS: “I did my first eSports commentary event about three years ago. I was pretty new to it, but I looked around at the crowds watching the other games and thought, ‘This is crazy! Why can’t FIFA do this?’ That led to me starting my own eSports team and finding players!”
PREPARING FOR A BIG EVENT!
SPENCER SAYS: “Our team’s quite spread out, but when we have qualifying events we get everyone together and that creates a team mentality. It’s good to have the boys coaching each other, because they’re able to pick up tips and see what the others are doing better!”
BEST WAY TO TRAIN?
SPENCER SAYS: “You’ve got to play against people that are better than you. You need to lose regularly, which sounds silly, but when you get beat you learn! Every time you lose is a good thing, because that’s a defeat you shouldn’t have again! If you get to the point where you can’t lose, you know you’re ready!”
FIFA 19 THOUGHTS?
SPENCER SAYS: There are some good additions, particularly to FUT. They’ve reinvented Divisions to make it more competitive and the new games in Kick-Off mode will be fun to play with mates. It’s hard for FIFA to try to keep it interesting every year, but I think they do a good job!”
