MATCH chats to Hashtag United’s pro FIFA players Agge Rosenmeier and Ryan Pessoa to find out the top secrets to their success!
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO TAKE YOUR CHANCES ON FIFA 18?
RYAN SAYS: “Driven shots are the best thing to do when you’re in on goal. Hold down the shoot button so it’s pretty powerful, and then tap it again to drive it along the ground!”
AGGE SAYS: “The most common shot is definitely the driven shot, and it’s always the most efficient. Combine it with the finesse driven shot, depending on the angle!”
WHAT’S THE MOST SIMPLE AND EFFECTIVE FIFA SKILL MOVE?
AGGE SAYS: “The Ball Roll. It’s easy to perform but it’s extremely good when you master it, and any player can do it. If you learn how to time it, then you can get into some amazing angles!”
RYAN SAYS: “The Heel-To-Heel Flick is good, but I’d say El Tornado is the best skill move. When the ball is in the air, your opponent’s cursor will switch, so if you get it right you
can get a free shot on goal!”
HOW DO YOU STOP SOMEONE WITH LOADS OF SKILL MOVES?
RYAN SAYS: “Sit off them. If you press too high, they can beat your first player, and then they’ve got loads of room to do more. Sit off, and make your move to tackle when you know they’re about to try a skill move!”
HOW DO YOU TAKE FREE-KICKS?
AGGE SAYS: “Never shoot direct! It goes in sometimes, but it’s not very common. I call two men over and do a shooting feint, where one of them runs over the ball. Then you can pass to the guy that ran over the ball, or take it short and then shoot.”
RYAN SAYS: “I don’t shoot from free-kicks that often, unless I’ve got Leo Messi. Let’s say Cristiano Ronaldo is my main taker, I’d press RB/R1, and when Messi comes over as the second taker, I’d aim to the side of the wall and shoot with him.”
WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO TAKE A CORNER?
AGGE SAYS: “I don’t like to just smash it into the box
– it’s not very efficient and people know how to defend it. So I’d rather take it short and work my way into the box, either by playing it into a man at the near post, or just keep playing patiently to wait for the gap.”
RYAN SAYS: “Corners I lay short, and you’ll notice that the guy at the front post will run towards you. If you quickly play it to him, then you can either drag it back and shoot, or chip it to the back post for a tap in.”
IS THERE A METHOD TO SAVING PENS?
AGGE SAYS: “The first thing I always look at is how much power my opponent gives the shot. Everyone shoots low because even if the keeper guesses the right way, it could still go under him. So if your opponent uses a lot of power, then you know it’ll be a high shot, and if there’s less power you have to dive low. Then it’s a bit of a lottery – you just have to guess!”
WHAT’S THE BEST FORMATION?
AGGE SAYS: “My favourite formation is still the narrow diamond, but in competitive FIFA you need to have wide players, so I use 4-2-2-2.”
RYAN SAYS: “My favourite formation is 4-2-3-1 wide, but the most popular is definitely 4-2-2-2. The two CAMs are amazing for build-up play, the two strikers link attacks, then with your DMs you can protect the defence!”
HOW DO YOU DEFEND A NARROW LEAD?
RYAN SAYS: “Switch to a defensive formation like a 4-3-3 with the DM, or 4-2-3-1 wide. Then keep switching the ball between your full-backs. It’s hard for your opponent to keep pressing you in those areas, and opens up gaps!”
HOW DO YOU CHOOSE PLAYERS?
AGGE says: “I always look at a player’s weak foot, because you can threaten from more angles with a five-star weak foot. That’s why I choose Neymar over Leo Messi!”
RYAN SAYS: “In defence it’s helpful to have pace as well as strong defensive stats. In midfield you want high dribbling or passing, because they’re the ones that’ll start your attacks, and up top the most important things are pace and shooting.”
WHO’S YOUR FAVOURITE PLAYER TO USE?
AGGE SAYS: “It used to be Neymar or Gullit, but now it’s R9 Ronaldo – he scores goals for fun! I’ve finally learned how to use him. I struggled with him a bit at first, but his prime card is just crazy!”
RYAN SAYS: “My favourite is TOTY Ronaldo, no doubt! It used to be R9 too, but I’ve struggled with him recently!”
