MATCH chats to rock-solid Newcastle defensive midfielder ISAAC HAYDEN about everything Christmas…

MERRY XMAS, ISAAC! HOW EXCITED ARE YOU?

ISAAC SAYS: “I would say 6/10! As a footballer, you play so many games you don’t really have time to fully enjoy it as you’re away for some of Christmas! I’ve enjoyed it more as my daughter gets older!”

WHAT’S THE FIRST THING THAT COMES TO MIND AT XMAS?

ISAAC SAYS: “The first thing that comes to mind at Xmas is the Christmas Tree – and getting to decorate it!”

DO YOU BUY PRESENTS EARLY OR LATE?

ISAAC SAYS: “I’m always early! I get it done before all the late rush. I’m organised – I’m not a last-minute type of guy!”

WHAT ARE YOU GETTING YOUR TEAM-MATES?

ISAAC SAYS: “I would buy Allan Saint-Maximin a watch, so he can keep time better! My best-ever present is definitely my daughter’s first Christmas, but the worst present is a Lynx Box – it’s the most cliché present ever!”

WHAT’S YOUR FAVE XMAS FOOD?

ISAAC SAYS: “The best part is pigs in blanket! I could go through 20 of those, but it’s a shame we usually have a game the next day, so I limit myself! Brussels sprouts have never agreed with me!”

DO YOU PULL CRACKERS?

ISAAC SAYS: “Yeah, Christmas crackers are always good crack – pardon the pun! We got some one year where the things inside were actually things you could use, so everyone was trying their hardest to win!”

WHAT’S YOUR FAVE SONG?

ISAAC SAYS: “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town is a good simple one I like! I don’t know the exact song, but there’s one that’s very annoying – like over the top!”

WHAT’S ON YOUR XMAS WISH-LIST?

ISAAC SAYS: “On my Christmas wish list this year is just the health and happiness of all my family and friends! It’s been a tough year for most, and I just wish everyone health and happiness.”

AND FINALLY, YOUR FAVE TRADITION?

HAYDEN SAYS: “My favourite Christmas tradition is probably Christmas Eve, and leaving the mince pies out for Santa Claus and the carrots for the reindeer! My daughter loves that part!”
